There is much more to having an eye examination at our practice than finding out if you need spectacles or contact lenses. We also carry out a range of tests to assess the health of your eyes. And because everyone’s eyesight is different we tailor the eye examination to the individual.
Often because eye conditions often develop gradually you may notice any initial symptoms. That is why we recommend you have regular eye examinations, at least every 2 years. The sooner any problem is detected, the greater the chance of it being treated successfully.
We offer both NHS sight tests and private Eye Examinations. Many people are entitled to free eye tests under the NHS* and you may also qualify for help with the cost of your spectacle or contact lenses.
* advanced tests such as retinal photographs and GDx retinal nerve fibre analysis is not covered by the NHS.
About 1 in 5 children have an undetected eye problem, which can be easily found during an Eye Examination. Your children’s vision can change rapidly as young eyes develop, so regular Eye Examinations are important for your child’s vision and health. If you notice your child sitting too close to the television, struggling with close works, complaining of headaches, or you notice one eye turning in or out, you should take them to see an Optometrist.
All children are entitled to a free Eye Examination from the NHS. If the Optometrist prescribes spectacles, they will also issue a voucher from the NHS to help towards the cost of the spectacles. All Children’s lenses come complete with a FREE Scratch-resistant coating to help protect the lenses from scratches, and a FREE UV Coating to help protect the eyes against harmful UV rays.
